However, this craze quickly faded. After the year 2000, bowling alleys closed one after another. From a peak of six or seven hundred bowling alleys across Taiwan, only a few dozen remain, a decline of nearly 90%. The most recently closed bowling alley was a legendary spot in the bowling world—Yuanshan Bowling Alley, located next to the Jiantan MRT station at the foot of a mountain, which had been open for nearly sixty years.
