Why Carver was a Better Cop than Herc
Herc is a loud, aggressive Baltimore narcotics detective. He’s impulsive, often crude, and more interested in action than careful police work, but he’s loyal to his fellow officers and provides a lot of comic relief. While Carver starts as Herc’s partner and closest friend on the detail. Early on he seems similarly rough around the edges, but he’s sharper, more politically aware, and shows more potential for growth and professionalism than Herc.
