Cafetería del Bienestar genera polémica; acusan competencia desleal

The new Cafetería del Bienestar (Wellbeing Cafeteria) located on Paseo de la Reforma, within the Fonart facilities, has generated questions after employees admitted they are not yet issuing invoices and are still adjusting internal processes after only a few weeks of operation. During a visit, it was also noted that the cafeteria initially did not accept card payments and operated using manual processes to record sales. Staff explained that the products come directly from producers linked to the Sembrando Vida (Sowing Life) program and that several items arrive without barcodes or standardized control mechanisms. Furthermore, the prices observed for beverages such as Americano and cappuccino showed minimal differences compared to other cafes in the area. For his part, Gerardo López Becerra, president of ConComercioPequeño (Small Business Confederation), asserted that this model represents unfair competition for small businesses and questioned how government-backed projects can operate under different conditions than those required for private businesses.
