Recycling: Let's Sort It - Gary Robertson | Dundee City Council

Dundee poet, playwright and waste operative Gary Robertson is backing a city-wide campaign urging residents to sort their recycling.♻️ The popular “Dundee Street Poet” has recorded a video message as part of the ongoing Recycling: Let’s Sort It drive. The campaign encourages more recycling and the use of Council resources such as the Dundee MyBins App and the A-Z Recycling Guide to help sort waste and put the right item in the right bin. Gary has worked in the Council’s waste management department for 17 years. He is well known in the city for his street poetry, making full use of the Dundonian dialect in his books, plays and music. Gary said: “We’re hoping to get yous, the Dundee public, to recycle mare, if yous can! “If we can reuse the materials that would otherwise be going into landfill or incinerated, if we can reuse they materials again, that’s better for everybody – financially and much better for the environment. “Across the bins, I ken ye’s have got all the colours, burgundy – you’ve got your tins, cans, plastic. Your blue bins – you’ve got your paper and cardboard. We’ve got glass bins a’ across the city that you can go and recycle. “Anything that you canna recycle, that goes in your grey waste bins. And if you can dae that, that’d be magic! “If yous can follow the process folks, then it maks oor jobs a lot easier – I can assure you. We’re no haeing to separate contaminated stuff and it speeds up the process, and abdae’s happy. “It doesnae matter where you live, if yir in a hoose, a tenement – abdae can contribute. Recycling – Let’s Sort It, Dundee – come on!” More information about recycling in Dundee can be found on the Council’s website.
