Ein Gedi Nature Reserve. Ein Gedi (in English 'Goat kid Spring'), in biblical times the young David hid in this area from the wrath of king Saul. The Nature Reserve is located in the Judean Desert right on the shores of the Dead Sea. Water flows all year round from four springs. the more popular hikes taken are: Nahal David and Nahal Arugot. The ancient Synagogue is from the 3rd century A.D, Jewish law forbids figurative art in Synagogues therefore the mosaic floor shows only Hebrew writings, geometric patterns and birds.
