When Brando Realizes Ron Perlman Was Acting Blind
Ron Perlman recounts one of the most chaotic and unforgettable moments of his career while filming The Island of Dr. Moreau alongside legendary actor Marlon Brando and director John Frankenheimer. In this behind the scenes story, Ron explains how a scene scheduled for a day and a half stretched into seven days of filming. Playing a half-man, half-goat character, he made a bold method acting choice, he decided his character would be blind, using opaque contact lenses that left him unable to see during takes. What followed was pure on-set chaos. Brando, unaware of the acting choice for days, had to physically navigate around Ron during production. Only after nearly a week did Brando finally realize what was happening, leading to a stunned reaction and an immediate call to reset the scene.
