Van Halen - Best of Both Worlds (Guitar Cover)

Happy New Year!!! I wish you all the best in 2021. This is a track I have been trying to learn on and off for a little while. I was driving myself crazy on a couple of sections but think I just have to leave some things to Eddie to play. Mainly the subtle overdub guitar parts in the pre chorus. I spent a while trying to decipher the phrasing of the solo but think I have the general idea sussed. What surprised me on more analytical listening is that the opening phrase doesn't sound tapped, even though that's what Eddie would do live. Also the bending of the left hand while simultaneously sliding the right tapping finger took a bit of work to get coordinated but soon felt comfortable to do. It was also really hard to find a tone where I could do justice to the single coil sound Eddie gets on the rhythm guitar while also having enough gain to play the solo (which Eddie overdubbed with a different sound). I think my compromise if a little too heavy for the quieter parts, especially when trying to roll back the volume, but I hope it still shows how to play the parts. :) Once again I will say, I find Eddie incredibly hard to imitate on his rhythm work. He had his own timing clock which was perfect for what he played in making him unique. :) The track is also around 30 gets sharp so I tuned it down. You can find my other Van Halen covers here -    • Van Halen Covers   I use a Charvel DK24 (it's purple) into a Boss Me50 into a Palmer Pdi-09 into a Focusrite Scarlett into my computer running Logic Pro X.
