#Valley #DonetskRegion #DestroyedbyRussia #VladislavKruglov Bogorodychne in Donetsk Oblast is a village with over 300 years of history, located among picturesque forests near the Svyatogorsk Lavra. According to legend, it was here that the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" was once found in a local well, from which the name of the village comes. In honor of this shrine, a temple was built in Bogorodychne, where people have come for centuries with their pain, hope, and faith in consolation. Before the full-scale invasion, about 800 people lived here. A school, kindergarten, and club operated in the village, the infrastructure was renovated, and a new bridge was built. Because of its incredible nature, the locals called Bogorodychne "Donetsk Switzerland." Not only ordinary peasants lived here, but also businessmen and deputies who appreciated this place for its beauty and tranquility. Everything changed after the arrival of the Russian army. During the occupation and fighting, Bogorodichnoye was practically razed to the ground. Hundreds of houses were destroyed, the streets turned into solid ruins. The village, which had experienced wars and historical upheavals for centuries, was on the verge of extinction. Today, there is still no full-fledged electricity, water, gas, or shops. Despite this, about 30 residents remain in Bogorodichnoye. They continue to live among the ruins, refusing to leave their land even when Russian troops try to advance towards the village again. They are separated from the front line by only about 15 kilometers. In this issue of the “Destroyed by Russia” project, I will walk through the streets of Bogorodichnoye, show what remains of the once thriving village, and try to talk to the people. This is a story about more than just destruction. This is a story about memory, faith and people who remained to live where Russia tried to destroy life itself. Watch. Comment. Share.
