1/6: BUSH LIFE, PAPUA NEW GUINEA

In this chapter, Richard and Patrick start their daunting task of walking and paddling across Papua New Guinea. Their 40kg backpacks hinder their progress, as they tackle river crossings, thick undergrowth, and incessant insects and leeches. The bush tracks slowly disappear as they walk deeper into the jungle, so a radical decision is made. They opt to put together a raft from materials they source from the jungle, i.e. logs and vines. On the way they meet locals that hunt with bows & arrows, and who live off the land. www.pngexpedition.com www.patrickhutton.com
