STEM educator Curtis Carmichael tells his personal story of learning STEM and Business on his street corner in poverty which changed the trajectory of his life. He warns us that if we see certain communities as deficits we risk erasing the very people and innovation that is needed to solve the most pressing problems in our community. An urgent call to see the humanity of people who already possess transferable skill sets to create solutions if given the opportunity and access to resources. Curtis Carmichael will be exploring the topic of poverty in his upcoming TEDx talk at Champlain. More specifically, he will examine how poverty nurtures the innovative minds that will have a great impact on our future.
