'Mit' and 'bei' are other prepositions that govern the dative case in German and can sometimes cause confusion, because both mean 'with', but we use them depending on the context and sometimes in situations that we would describe differently in Spanish. For example, in Spanish you would say: 'Estoy con mis amigos' or 'Estoy en casa de mis amigos'. However, in German it's: 'Ich in bei meinen Freunden'. We don't use 'mit' here.
