"La Catedral" is widely considered the greatest and most important masterpiece of the work of Agustin Barrios Mangorè (1885-1944), which is why it is one of the most proposed musical pieces in the repertoire and discography of the greatest performers in the world. This work, characterized by the two movements "Andante religioso" and "Allegro solemne", was composed in 1921 and published in 1955 by Ediciones Musicales "Mundo Guaraní". At the time of its composition it also received the enthusiasm of the famous guitarist Andrés Segovia (1893-1987), who said, about his trip to Argentina, he was impressed by "a magnificent concert piece", "La Catedral" in fact, that the composer played for him when he went to visit him at the hotel, “and whose first movement is a “andante”, as an introduction and prelude, and the second a piece of great virtuosity that would fit well into the repertoire of any concert performer.". For the proposed recording, Massimiliano Verduci considered the arrangement and elaboration of the Venezuelan guitarist Alirio Diaz (1923-2016) published in the series "Las seis cuerdas" by Edizioni musicali "G. Zanibon”, Padova, 1974, and the original manuscript from 1939.
