Prof. Dr. Reinhard Gregor Kratz: Ursprungsmythen in der Hebräischen Bibel
Lecture by Dr. Reinhard Gregor Kratz, Professor of Old Testament at the University of Göttingen, as part of the virtual lecture series "Origins" at the University of Göttingen. The search for the ultimate beginning of all things is a profound question of meaning. It is therefore not surprising that both natural sciences and humanities disciplines are intensively engaged in researching aspects underlying the concept of origin. Furthermore, the concept of origin is also of political and social relevance, as it is often interpreted as universally valid or even totalitarian "truth" and used in this way to legitimize one's own actions. The aim of this lecture series is to examine the concept of origin from various perspectives. Critically engaging with these questions is not only an intellectually stimulating and enriching endeavor, but also part of our social responsibility. The Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the University of Göttingen are ideal hosts, as they were both founded in the spirit of the Enlightenment. The virtual lecture series provides a space for exchange, information, and discussion at a time when almost all events are being canceled and many people are working from home. Both the lectures and the chat will be broadcast live via Zoom and YouTube and subsequently published here. The program for the lecture series and registration information can be found at https://www.uni-goettingen.de/de/6134...
