"Plauen zerstört und wieder aufgebaut"

#Plauen – destroyed and rebuilt. That's the name of the highly worthwhile #exhibition currently on display in the gallery at the Malzhaus. Photographs from Lars #Buchmann's collection show bombed-out Plauen. 75 percent of the top city lay in ruins at the end of the war. The photographs demonstrate the destructive power of Allied bombs. At the time of filming, Plauen was in a particularly dramatic situation. Bomb discoveries repeatedly caused horror in the post-war period. This time it was particularly bad. The largest evacuation in the city's history was imminent. Fortunately, the metal objects found were not bombs. Lucky. This time... The exhibition at the Malzhaus isn't just about destruction. It also shows reconstruction. Lars Buchmann is a teacher in the after-school care center at the Rückert School. He is a passionate collector and a Plauen native through and through.
