After 6 years I'm back to this silly, dumb speedrun: Cel Damage Gate Relay - All Stages in 27:52.850

I had the itch to play some Cel Damage again, and I've leveraged that desire into trying out the Gate Relay speedrun again - which, uh, wow I forgot how miserable the run was lmao. I'm only grinding it cause I just want to play the game again, I couldn't imaging doing this otherwise. Really surprised this re-took world record, even if only by a couple of seconds. I'm doing the run on the GameCube version, which is somewhat slower than the XBox original version which has much faster load and save times (the GC is 38 seconds(!) slower). A perfect Death Valley and Temple of Boom were the big reasons this run got WR back. On top of that, I'm playing this on an actual GameCube instead of a Wii - that means the weapon pickups are fully randomized as opposed to respawning in a set order. Shmoe is a total RNG hell check now, which is why I'm doing that and Mesa so early. I switched to using Brain the Brain instead of T. Wrecks because I've found his heavy weight and ability to quickturn instead of pivot gives him an edge on some levels over T. Wrecks's truck. In a basic 40 gate time trial using Lunarcy, Brian had a .8 average faster lap time than Wrecks did, through Wrecks still is the better choice for some levels such as Shmoe. I'm not using Count Earl since - while he is very fast - he isn't as maneuverable and his long shape loves to bounce off of the game's wild geometry. Going fast is one thing, but staying out of the way of the AIs and being able to dodge at a moments notice is more important.
