Too Girly

As a teenager, people would look at my height and ask if I played basketball. What they didn’t know was that I had tried and been told I was too girly. What seemed like a small moment at the time opened the door to a much bigger conversation about gender, identity, and the expectations we place on one another. In this episode of The Long Way Around, I explore how societal ideas about masculinity and femininity influence the way we see ourselves, the opportunities we’re given, and who gets taken seriously. We talk about stereotypes, credibility, competence, and the subtle ways gender norms shape our relationships, ambitions, and everyday interactions. If you’ve ever felt pressured to fit into a role that didn’t quite feel like you, this episode is for you.
