Dark matter, or hidden matter, is a type of matter in physics that cannot be seen but is felt due to its gravity. This means that it participates in a gravitational interaction with ordinary matter, but does not emit light or other electromagnetic radiation and is therefore invisible. The gravity that dark matter provides is an absolute necessity for allowing our galaxy to hold onto the raw ingredients that made life like us and planets like Earth possible at all
