The Kingdom of God [Sermon]

How do Christians live in the “already and not yet” of Christ’s decisive victory? Jesus has defeated sin, death, and the devil, yet the full public recognition of that reign awaits the future. Focusing on the Lord’s Prayer—“Your kingdom come…on earth as it is in heaven”—I argue that Scripture teaches the kingdom will become increasingly manifest on earth, not simply decline until the Second Coming. I outlines the nature of Christ’s authority won through the cross and resurrection, the Great Commission to disciple the nations with spiritual means, the kingdom’s slow but real growth like mustard seed and leaven, and its culmination as Christ reigns until all enemies are subdued, with death destroyed last.
