Quench - Dreams (Mista's Electribe 2 cover)

Another cover i've wanted to do for a while... the "Tubular Bell" PCM loaded into the Electribe's sound board has been begging me for it... This is Dreams, by Quench covered practically verbatim, but then going off into jamming territory near the end. This was a biiiiig tune btw, and is over 30 years old!!! Still sounds great. I first heard it on a Jeremy Healey mixtape in 1994 called "Liquid Grooves", lol. Got it free with a Dosse Posse jumper from Cult Clothing in Cambridge. The entire tape was just unlistenable dance-round-your-handbag shitdisco apart from this one track, which stood out head and shoulders above everything else. It sounded like the freshest thing in the room in 1994, and it still sounds like it now. It's coz it was pure. No naff nods to anything other than synths and drum machines. No diva vocals, no rock guitars, no "mmm nice" jazzy gibberish, no hippitty-hoppitty dj scratchy ragga bollocks, just doofs, acid, and a great big *tubular bell*. It's also a complete one-off. The guy who made it never made anything close to it again. The album it was on is mostly ambient and this absolute war tune is so out of place on it, almost like some sort of publishing error. It sounds tailor made to iron out the techno soundsystem at a mid 2010's Canning Town squat party, but it was made in 1993 by an ambient artist in Australia called Chris Dolan. So rare. So good. So tribe...
