When learning a song as a beginner or covering with a live band, it's important to remember that you don't need to play it exactly beat for beat - you just need to understand the structure of the song, focus on timing and dynamics, and stay consistent with the style of drumming in the Record. Being in a cover band, you often have to learn over 40 songs and in most cases you only have time to skim the surface of each song. Most people in the audience, unless they are a drummer, will not notice that you played the song slightly differently than the Record. This is a song that I partially know from playing live but have never spent much time on. Something like this takes me only 1-2 hours to film and edit which is ideal.. no practice needed. Compared to some of my other covers that involve multiple weekends of practicing before I can even turn on the video camera. So I may be putting out more videos of the the 40+ songs I play live in my cover bands...but this would push quantity over quality. Every now and then Ill try to release an epic one though!
