Jones Free Carver 6000 The non-technical review
Someone asked me for a review of the Jones Freecarver 6000 — and I told them they didn’t want one. This isn’t a stat-heavy snowboard review. No spec sheets. No marketing buzzwords. Just real impressions from riding it. I’ve been snowboarding since the 1990s, back when gear was nowhere near as refined as it is today. My approach has always been simple: put it on your feet and see what it does. What stood out about this board wasn’t numbers — it was confidence. The way it corrects small mistakes, absorbs uneven terrain, and lets you push harder without feeling out of control. It rides shorter than it looks, feels longer than it is, and stays composed when things get fast and bumpy. If you’re looking for lab stats, this isn’t that video. If you want to understand how a snowboard actually feels under your feet — this is the conversation. Filmed in my workshop, cut from a longer, unscripted session talking snowboards, gear, and mindset.
