DIY Automotive Roof Water Tank

Dimensions of the pipes that were used are 66 1/2 inches for the two long pieces and 31 1/2 inches for the short pieces. Connect the two elbows near the front of the vehicle with the short piece stretching from left to right, and the long pieces extending out to the rear. The Y-adapters should be arranged so that the 90 degree bend curves to the centerline of the vehicle and the leg that hangs off will extend to the back. The end caps will be screwed into the rear-facing part of the Y-adapter. After you do this you will want to drill holes in the part of the end caps that unscrews. Drill your hole so that the pipe fitting will screw into it easily. The pipe thread is tapered, so as you tighten the fitting it will expand out and form a seal against the plastic. Attach as many fittings as you want, but the main ones you will want will be the one to attach your hose, and the one to allow the pipes to breath in air. Ideally, you would want fittings that have a valve to turn off.
