I Operate a 70T Excavator when Visiting O'Neills Plant Hire!
During my 2026 road trip, I stopped in New South Wales to catch up with Eamon O'Neill from O'Neills Plant Hire for an exclusive look behind the scenes at one of their large-scale crushing operations. Eamon takes us through the entire process, explaining how material moves through the site—from the dozer pushing material up to the 70-tonne excavator, which feeds the crushers, before a wheeled loader loads the processed material into dump trucks for transport elsewhere on site. We also learn about some of O'Neills Plant Hire's impressive earthmoving fleet, discuss just how many machines and staff it takes to keep an operation like this running, and learn more about the business behind one of NSW's well-known earthmoving contractors. To top it all off, I get behind the controls of the 70-tonne excavator and have the opportunity to load the screening plant myself—the biggest machine I've ever operated! If you enjoy earthmoving, crushing operations, heavy machinery, and seeing how Australia's contractors get the job done, you'll enjoy this one. 👇 Let me know in the comments: What's the biggest excavator you've ever operated?
