2025 - Moving into Joy: Hobbies for Stress Relief, Strength, and Energy Renewal - Kim Goodrich

Kim Goodrich joined us at the 2025 EDS ECHO Summit: Mental Health event to discuss Moving into Joy: Hobbies for Stress Relief, Strength, and Energy Renewal. Living with EDS means navigating pain, fatigue, and unpredictability, and movement can feel complicated—too much or the wrong kind makes things worse, but the right kind can actually restore energy, regulate stress, and even feel joyful. In this presentation, Kim shares how hobbies that weave in movement and music aren’t just leisure activities, but powerful tools for identity, resilience, and nervous system regulation. Kim Goodrich is a NASM-certified personal trainer and nutrition coach who combines professional expertise with lived experience of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. A nationally ranked swimmer and athlete growing up, Kim’s path shifted in her early 20s when her body began breaking down due to, what she much later learned was, EDS. In 2006, she launched her fitness career as a way to stay accountable, manage her own symptoms, and help others facing health challenges.
