Regulatory Environments and Resilience Partnership Models.
Regulatory Environments and Resilience Partnership Models This webinar is the third and final session in the African-led HIV Control Working Group (AHCWG) Webinar Series 2026 on Africa’s Sovereign Health Financing and Resilience. As African countries strengthen domestic health systems and advance health sovereignty, attention is increasingly turning to the regulatory, procurement, manufacturing, and partnership systems that support access to medicines and diagnostics. Sustainable HIV responses depend not only on financing and policy frameworks, but also on the institutions and partnerships that enable products and services to reach communities safely, efficiently, and equitably. The discussion examines the role of regulatory harmonisation, local manufacturing, procurement reform, and partnership models in strengthening resilient HIV responses across Africa. It also explores the contribution of the African Medicines Agency (AMA), opportunities for expanding local production of HIV medicines and diagnostics, and the governance considerations shaping country ownership and long-term sustainability. Speakers: • Alex Juma Ismail, Technical Lead, Products Evaluation & Scientific Opinions, African Medicines Agency (AMA) • Dr Priscilla Nyambayo, Head, Pharmacovigilance and Clinical Trials Division, Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) • Dr Mohga Kamal-Yanni, Global Health and Access to Medicines Consultant • Robert Agyarko, Senior Strategic Advisor for Health, Office of the Commissioner, Department of Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, African Union Commission Moderator: • Professor Mohamed Chakroun, Professor of Infectious Diseases, University of Monastir, Tunisia Topics covered: • Regulatory harmonisation and the role of the African Medicines Agency (AMA) • Local manufacturing of HIV medicines and diagnostics • Procurement reform and supply chain sovereignty • Partnership models that support country ownership and resilience • Regulatory systems, health governance, and sustainable HIV responses Learn more about the African-led HIV Control Working Group (AHCWG): https://hivcwg.org/ Subscribe for future discussions on health financing, health policy, health governance, HIV responses, and Africa-led approaches to resilient and sustainable health systems. #AHCWG #HealthSystems #HealthGovernance #HIVResponse #AccessToMedicines #HealthSovereignty #GlobalHealth #AfricaLeadership
