There are materials specifically for gravestones, and not just any caulking agent will do. In fact, using other caulking agents or primers can stain or discolor the stone, so we don't recommend them. As a stonemason, I can confidently recommend a material called Earthquake-Resistant Bond Ace for Gravestones. While this material is primarily intended for professional use, it can be purchased by the general public on Amazon and other sites. Depending on the size of the gravestone, you'll typically need one or two bottles. Even for a large Toyama-style gravestone, you'll likely only need three or four bottles. The price on Amazon is around ¥1,300 per bottle (excluding tax and shipping). Use this material to neatly finish the caulking joints on your gravestone by applying masking tape and smoothing it out with a spatula.
