Precision Pillar Bedding a Hunting Stock - 375 H&H Magnum - Custom African Safari Hunting Rifle
Accurate Rifles and Restorations - Precision Pillar Bedding Services Pillar bedding, especially a wood stock, is essential to eliminate any climactic and physical changes that may occur throughout the years. Wood expands and contracts with differences in humidity, temperatures, etc. The rifle's action screws are normally torqued between the steel bottom metal and the barreled action with wood in the middle. We are replacing that wood in the middle with stress proof high grade light weight custom aluminum "pillars" - and a perfect 1:1 bedding compound nestled from rear tang to about 1" of the barrel shank for a rigid, solid, repeatable, (and most importantly) CONSISTENT system. Torqueing of the action screws can now be reliably achieved under any condition, and there is no fear of it shrinking or expanding under different circumstances - particularly important if your are travelling for a hunt, competitions, contracting, etc... Get a "behind the scenes" look at how we pillar bed a wood stock utilizing our Grizzly G0509G Gunsmithing Lathe and Precision Mathews PM935TV Bridgeport style milling machine. This particular job is for a fancy Remington 700 chambered in 375 H&H Magnum. Our eastern USA customer is taking this rig to Africa for a safari hunt and wanted it to be pillar bedded to avoid any shift in climate differences for his once in a lifetime hunt. Wood and metal preparations, custom pillars made from 6061 aerospace grade aluminum round stock, and the entire process documented here. This is 100% custom work, even the through holes are offset for appearance and function. The only thing we don't make is the bedding compound! If this is something that interests you, please get in touch! Our turn around times are rapidly increasing, so get your project in sooner than later to avoid possible long wait times! Now is the time to get your tools in to upgrade and prepare for next season! contact and more information here: www.accurateriflesandrestorations.com Credits: Thank you S.D.!!
