Searching for a Seat

📖 Scripture: Mark 10:32-45 This message exposes the danger of self-promotion and reminds believers that the kingdom of God operates differently than the world. While the disciples were focused on positions, recognition, and status, Jesus redirected their attention to the cross, humility, and servant-hearted living. Key Points: We See the Prophesied Atonement - Jesus clearly explained His coming suffering, death, and resurrection. While the disciples focused on earthly expectations, Christ remained focused on His mission to the cross—the very reason He came. We See the Presumed Achievement - James and John sought places of honor in Christ's kingdom, believing they were ready for greatness. Their request revealed a heart focused on position, privilege, and personal advancement rather than sacrifice and service. We See the Prescribed Abasement - Jesus taught that true greatness is found through humility. In God's kingdom, those who desire to be first must become servants, and those who seek honor must learn to put others before themselves. The path to greatness in God's kingdom is not found by seeking a higher seat at the table but by taking a lower place in humble service to others. We’d love to see you at First Baptist Church!
