The Mercedes ML320 CDI (W164) with the OM642 V6 diesel engine is considered one of the last Mercedes SUVs with genuine long-term quality, robust construction, and outstanding long-distance comfort. After the first 2,000 kilometers, I'm drawing an honest interim conclusion about this vehicle and the current status of the project. Two well-known technical issues with the W164 are of particular interest: the transfer case (VTG) and the turbocharger. Both components are crucial for the reliability, driving experience, and long-term prospects of this vehicle.
