Atomic Garden: Upcycled Lazy Susan Mandala

In this project, I transform an old, paint-splattered lazy Susan into Atomic Garden — a retro-futurist dot mandala inspired by mid-century modern colours, Bauhaus-style bubbles, stylised seed pods, and a bold central bloom. I love taking something messy and overlooked and turning it into something beautiful enough to put back on display. This piece also began as a way to use up leftover paint from my mid-century modern palette, because I hate wasting paint! Expect earthy retro colours, textured dots, botanical shapes, atomic-age motifs, and a garden that feels like it belongs in a 1950s design catalogue. Follow along for the full upcycling process, paint choices, dotting details, and the final reveal in the Yorkshire sunshine. #dotmandala #upcycledart #mandalaart #atomicgarden #midcenturymodern #dotpainting #lazySusanMakeover #retroart #paintwithme #upcycling For the mid-century modern palette, go to my video on this channel The stencils were from Devon Dotting https://www.devondotting.com/ My lazy susan is an old one, but here is one very similar on Amazon https://amzn.to/4oYhXiM I used up some other leftovers as follows NB Where there are Amazon links attached, using this link to purchase helps my channel Decoart Americana Desert Turquoise (this can also substitute for the teal colour throughout) https://amzn.to/4eAYnpc Blue Chiffon https://amzn.to/4gbUsAf Buttermilk https://amzn.to/4uZ6hNS Ocean Blue https://amzn.to/4eLYFrT If you'd like to make this with Americana paints throughout. I have some alternates Atomic Mustard (Deep ochre https://amzn.to/4v5PfxM) Palm Springs Pink (Vintage Pink https://amzn.to/3Sp4Vyy) Avocado Dream (DA Lush Green https://amzn.to/4uMQKAS) Batchelor Pad Brown (DA Rich Espresso https://amzn.to/4vuzSja) Sputnik Orange (DA Orange Flame https://amzn.to/4oGgddQ) Please note - substitution suggestions are not identical colours! Also, Decoart Americana tends to be more opaque and matte - it gives a different effect, and some prefer it! I tend to use a "horses for courses" approach and choose brands based on the effect I'm trying to create. Happy dotting!
