"When is a Taper not a Taper?" // Norwegian Ultra Training (NUTS) Week 14

Taper week… but not as you might expect. 🔹 Invigorate Electrolyte Drink Mix I’ve been using Invigorate during longer sessions and harder training days. You can get 25% off with my code MARKG25 using this link: 👉 https://invigorate.fit/shop/p/electro... This is the first week of taper in my build towards a sub 6:30 50K on a tough, hilly course with over 1200m of elevation. The volume is coming down—but in some ways, the effort is going up. I’ve taken out the walking breaks on hills, started running more by feel instead of sticking strictly to heart rate, and let the easy runs flow a bit more naturally. So the question is… when is a taper not really a taper? After 13 weeks of hard training, including a big peak week, I’m trying to find the right balance between backing off and staying sharp—but it doesn’t feel quite how I expected. In this vlog, I share how the first week of taper has gone, what I’m changing, and whether this approach actually makes sense heading towards race day. === You can follow me on Strava, here:   / strava   === Please like and SUBSCRIBE for more fun running content.    / @markg99   #RunningVlog #UltraTraining #50KTraining #TrailRunning #EnduranceTraining #TaperWeek #RunningJourney #Ultrarunner #Sub630 #RacePreparation #RunByFeel #TrainingBlock #PeakToTaper #RunningTips #RunnersOfYouTube #UKRunning #LongDistanceRunning #MindsetMatters #TrustTheProcess #RoadToUltra
