In this video, I examine in detail the new battery regulation announced by the EU in 2023 and fully effective from February 18, 2027. This regulation is not just about "open the cover, change the battery"; it represents a much deeper technological transformation. What Does the Regulation Cover? Easy Replacement: Manufacturers will have to design batteries so that the end user can change them without requiring special equipment. QR Code System: Thanks to QR codes placed on batteries; Information such as where the battery was manufactured, its mineral content, recycling capacity, and efficiency will be transparently visible. Replacement Parts Obligation: Manufacturers will be obligated to provide affordable replacement batteries for 5 years, even after a model's production ends. The Waterproofing Puzzle: How will the water and dust resistance features (IP certifications) of phones be maintained as designs change? What Will Be the Impact on Turkey? Although Turkey is not an EU member, the tendency of technology giants to spread standards they produce for the European market to the whole world (as in the case of USB-C) will directly affect us. Giants like Apple, Samsung, and Xiaomi will not create separate battery designs for Turkey and Europe. However, there is a point that should not be forgotten: Is simply changing the battery enough?
