Exploring a Victorian Coastal Citadel on Portland
I explored the west side of The Verne Citadel on Portland, walking through historic coastal defences and gun emplacements within the wider citadel complex, which also contains a prison. The site sits high above the sea and still contains a network of bunkers, stone gun positions, tunnels, and other fortified structures built into the landscape. On a clear, bright day, the contrast between the concrete military structures and the surrounding grassland and coastline is especially striking. This video focuses on the remaining structures, architectural details, and the atmosphere of The Verne Citadel as it exists today. Filmed on DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and DJI Mic 3 audio equipment. š Portland, Dorset Credits: Archive images used with permission from Portland Museum https://portlandmuseum.co.uk/
