24 Horas en la Ciudad con más Obesidad del Mundo (El final me impactó)

Welcome to the city with the highest obesity rate in the world! We're in McAllen. Here, nearly one in two people is obese, and almost half of the remaining population is overweight. This means that three out of four people outside are at risk of serious health problems and premature death. This city is designed to make people so obese they can't get out of bed. In McAllen, residents order fast food up to three times a day, and the trend isn't slowing down. McAllen is a small, low-income city in Texas, near the Mexican border. With over 500 fast-food restaurants for a population of 150,000, the density of these establishments is almost six times the U.S. average. Obesity is also a consequence of urban planning that discourages movement. This city is designed for cars. Most parks are located in the south and west parts of the city, often a 20-minute drive or nearly a two-hour walk from residential areas. With temperatures hovering around 90°F (32°C) year-round, exercising outdoors is even more challenging. To understand why obesity is so prevalent in the city, I also spent a day eating like a typical McAllen local. In the video, I also interviewed one of the world's most obese people.
