BAND-MAID - Ready to Rock | First Time Hearing This... Akane STOLE the Show!

Today I reacted to BAND-MAID's "Ready to Rock," and all I can say is... wow. I knew I was about to hear a great band because BAND-MAID has never disappointed me, but I was not expecting this song to be that fast. From the moment it started, it absolutely flew. The energy level was through the roof, and at times it felt like it was bordering on blast-beat territory. As a drummer, the first person who grabbed my attention was Akane. Her performance on this song was insane. The speed, precision, and stamina she displayed throughout the track were incredible. The double bass work was absolutely phenomenal, and at one point I swear she played a drum fill that was almost entirely double bass. It was one of those moments where I just had to stop and appreciate how difficult that is to pull off cleanly. Going into the song, I thought Kanami's guitar work was going to be the main focus for me. As usual, she was outstanding, but what surprised me was how much this turned into a drum showcase in my eyes. Akane completely stole the show. The song itself was fantastic. I believe it's connected to an anime project or theme in some way, although I'm not entirely sure about the details. What I do know is that it was packed with energy, musicianship, and the kind of performance that keeps me coming back to this band. At this point, I'm never surprised when BAND-MAID delivers. These women are simply one of the best rock bands working today. Not one of the best female bands. Not one of the best bands from Japan. One of the best bands, period. Every member brings something special to the table, and "Ready to Rock" was another reminder of just how talented they are.
