Mountain Meal w Mark Wiens (Hmong Organic Veg Feast) Heart-Warming Hill-Country Food

Whether its a round-the-world trip, or a local meal with ‪@MarkWiens‬ just one hour from my house - the most beautiful parts of any food-finding mission are always in the things we DON'T expect to happen! Welcome to Mon Chaem, a village high in the hills north of Chiang Mai, and thanks for joining us on a lovely, rainy morning outing in July. I knew the roads we would be taking today, they are now my 'local roads' - but I had no idea what foods we would find on the way! Today, we were all blessed by the welcome we received at 'Koei Hmong' Restaurant, and it turned out to be one of those super memorable meal opportunities that was just hidden in plain view. 'Raan Koei Hmong' restaurant is literally the parking lot restaurant, there's not much else besides a very small fresh market/tourist market (in tourist season, around Nov-Feb), and a couple of lovely viewpoints... but I usually just enjoy the view, then head back down the mountain for coffee, NEVER expecting that there could be such a Healthy, Tasty, Wonderfully hearty meal of Hmong food just waiting to be discovered! Already one of my favorite places to visit in Chiang Mai for a day trip, and this is yet one more reason to always keep this place in my most fun memories.
