Equal with the Father: Did the Council of Nicaea sever the Jewish roots of Christianity? Faith makes history: 1700 years ago, the Council of Nicaea (325 AD) took place—the first ecumenical council in church history—an event whose impact continues to this day in theology, the church, and culture. Under the title "FAITH MAKES HISTORY," the Cologne University of Catholic Theology (KHKT) hosted an interdisciplinary conference on November 19, 2025, to commemorate this anniversary. Through exchange between biblical studies, church history, systematic theology, and ecumenical research, a multifaceted perspective on Christology emerged, highlighting the great relevance of the council for the Christian faith.
