⚠️ Flood Safety PSA | Important Reminders for Dolton Residents

Mayor Jason House, the Board of Trustees, and the Office of the Village Clerk are sharing this important Flood Safety PSA from the Dolton Fire Department following severe storms, heavy rainfall, and flooding impacts across the Village and surrounding areas. As shared in the video, residents have already experienced flooded basements, flooded roads, and safety concerns related to standing water, electrical hazards, and gas odors. Important safety reminders include: ⚠️ do not enter a flooded basement 🔌 if water is high enough to reach electrical outlets, stay out immediately ⚡ flooded basements may present serious electrical hazards ⛽ if you smell natural gas or sewer gas, leave your residence immediately 📞 call 911 and contact your utility company such as ComEd or Nicor 👧🐶 keep children and pets away from standing water 🥾 if you absolutely must enter shallow water, use rubber boots, gloves, and protective clothing 🚗 do not drive into flooded roads or standing water 🚒 if you become trapped in floodwaters, call 911 The Dolton Fire Department reminds residents that floodwater may be contaminated and may contain unknown hazards. Please take these warnings seriously and make safety your top priority.
