WATERCOLOR Flower Painting Tutorial - Techniques for ABSTRACT Effect

Enjoy this new calming watercolor tutorial of a parrot tulip called Rococo. I was inspired by the beautiful blend of reds and yellows of the petals of the tulip that almost look like feathers. In this loose watercolor demonstration I want to show you how to use wet on wet techniques to achieve some stunning effects. You’ll explore how to bring the beauty of this tulip flower to life with bold watercolor techniques that emphasize its brilliance. Capturing this flower with watercolors allows for a dynamic play of vivid hues and soft textures. Watercolor is the perfect medium to showcase the delicate yet bold nature of the flower. The stunning red petals glow with intensity, while the darker green and blue leaves provide a dramatic contrast. Watercolors also offer the flexibility to experiment with layers, highlights, and shadows, giving the painting depth and dimension. For this watercolor tutorial I have used primarily the colors from the Van Gogh Dusk paints – Dusk Yellow, Pink, Violet and Green. These watercolour paints have impressed me with their versatility, the way they blend in with other colours and leave interesting textures due to the fantastic residue effect.
