Ford Focus: water in the boot / trunk (mk3, 2011-2014)

Water ingress into the boot (trunk) is a major problem with 3rd generation Ford Focus (mark 3 pre facelift: 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and probably also post facelift). This video shows you how to diagnose the root cause and rectify it. This involves removing the rear bumper and, if the problem has existed for a while, some of the interior upholstery too. However it's not at all difficult, and can be completed quite easily in an hour or two. NOTE: I wouldn't now recommend using plain silicone sealant, as I did in this video - it only lasted around a year before leaking again. I would recommend something like Sikaflex ebt.
