Questions to ASK your BETA READERS (with a Google Doc)
Here is a comprehensive list of all the questions I ask beta readers as of filming this video in 2025. These questions are always changing, and every time I write a new book I add more questions or get rid of other questions, but the ones in this video are the ones I've found to be extremely reliable for me and have given me great insight when planning a revision of my book. LINK TO THE GOOGLE DOC WITH QUESTIONS: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1C... LIST OF THE QUESTIONS DISCUSSED IN THIS VIDEO: Were there any parts of the book that felt boring or made you want to put it down? What were your favorite parts of the book? Which moments excited you, made you smile, or made this a good reading experience? What WORKED? Was anything confusing or hard to follow? Were there moments I lost you? Were there parts of the plot that didn’t feel believable, or made you suspend your disbelief too much? How did the main characters change from beginning to end? Were there any moments that made you fangirl or get emotional? Or moments that made you want to throw the book across the room—in a good or bad way? Where did you FEEL the most? How did you feel about the pacing of the story? Were there parts that dragged or rushed by too quickly? Anything you wish there had been more of? Did you notice any plot holes or inconsistencies? What could I change or improve to make this a more enjoyable read? How did you feel when you reached the end of the book? Did you want more from the story, or were you done? (If applicable) If you were done, why, and what could have been done differently to make you want more? There is no one way to write a book. I’m a strong believer that the only way to develop your own writing process is by trying a bunch of different methods to find out what is the most helpful to you. In my videos, I share how I approach every stage in my writing process, from brainstorming to editing, in the hope that it could give you something to try that could help you level up as a writer.
