The Philippines has condemned an AI-generated video posted by China's state-run China Daily that portrayed Filipinos as monkeys, calling it racist, dehumanising, and unacceptable. Manila demanded the video's removal, saying it mocked the 2016 international ruling that rejected China's sweeping South China Sea claims and glorified violence against Filipinos. The controversy comes amid escalating maritime tensions between Beijing and Manila over the disputed South China Sea, where repeated confrontations, water cannon incidents, and competing territorial claims have strained relations.
