The woman attempted to expel the visitors, arguing that both the sand and access to the sea were part of her land, sparking outrage on social media as many pointed out that Mexican beaches are public property with free access. Authorities indicated that there was corruption on the part of the municipal officials who authorized the beach occupation. Residents reported that this is not the first case of foreigners taking over the beach, a trend that has intensified in recent years, to the point that only one beach remains open to them.
