[Report] The scheduled opening date for the Daejeon Urban Railway Line 2 tram has been officially postponed from the end of 2028 to the second half of 2030. The reasons cited were delays in land compensation and an extension of trial operations, as reported by KBS. Daejeon City explained that an additional 10 months are needed due to delays in land compensation for the Seodaejeon Underpass section and construction delays on the Honam Line substructure, and an additional 6 months due to the extension of the trial operation period. Regarding criticisms that the project design was not detailed enough and that explanations of the situation were delayed, the city apologized, stating that they failed to anticipate unforeseen variables and needed time to provide accurate explanations. However, concerns regarding further delays remain unresolved. With no effective way to shorten the construction period, the increase in project costs due to the extension and, above all, the establishment of hydrogen infrastructure are cited as major variables.
