At the Gobh stage (also called the panicle initiation or booting stage) of the rice crop, the focus should be on ensuring proper nutrition, water management, and crop protection. This stage is very important because the panicle (ear head) is developing inside the stem, and any stress can reduce grain number and yield. Recommended services at the Gobh stage Apply the final nitrogen dose (if recommended) Apply the last split of nitrogen (usually urea) according to your local fertilizer recommendation. Apply it when there is adequate soil moisture or shallow standing water. Avoid excessive nitrogen, as it can increase lodging and disease risk. Maintain proper water level Keep about 2–5 cm of standing water in the field. Do not allow the field to dry out during panicle initiation and flowering, as moisture stress can significantly reduce yield.
