It was based on the books of the same name by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen. It starred Ms. Frizzle who would take her class on field trips every day (without any parental permission). Her magic bus allowed her to take her class across the solar system and beyond, inside the human body, through the water cycle, and numerous other scientific concepts. It made learning fun by showing these concepts up and close and demonstrating them in a creative visual way. The 2017 remake... sort of kind of tries.
