5 ECGs that can kill the Young

5 ECG diagnoses linked to sudden cardiac death that every clinician should know: 1. Brugada Syndrome Think V1-V2, pseudo-RBBB, ST elevation, and coved or saddleback morphology. 2. ARVC Think young athlete, syncope, T-wave inversion in V1-V3, and epsilon waves. 3. CPVT The resting ECG may be normal - the danger often appears with exercise, stress, or emotion. 4. Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Look for LVH, deep narrow Q waves, and giant T-wave inversion. 5. Familial Dilated Cardiomyopathy Unexplained cardiomyopathy? Always ask about family history.
