[Report] In the place where winter migratory birds departed, lush green reeds grow in the Suncheon Bay wetlands. At the beginning of summer, people have already started planting food for the winter birds. However, a pair of black-necked cranes, winter migratory birds, can be seen in a nearby rice paddy. They have remained in Suncheon Bay even though summer has arrived. They are catching and eating loaches or freshwater snails, but one of them keeps sitting down. [Hwang Seon-mi / Head of Suncheon Bay Conservation Team, Suncheon City: "Because it was seen crouching and resting during the time when it should be foraging for food during the day, it appears to be an unhealthy individual..."] If you look closely at the photo, the wound on the right wing feather is distinct. The 6th and 10th wing feathers have been broken and pulled out. It appears they were unable to return because they could not undertake the long flight of up to 3,000 kilometers to their home in Siberia. A black crane, presumed to be its mate, remained by its side. It does not leave its side and eats and sleeps together. It is most likely a married couple."] Suncheon City has decided to create a separate feeding ground for them.
