Today, she may be remembered only as the lady with the lamp or the world's first professional nurse, but Florence was much more than a nurse. She also spoke out for girls' education and against poverty in India. Furthermore, she began sending nurses from her London nursing school to India to work there. Their job was to train Indian girls to become nurses. St. Stephen's Hospital in Delhi was the first hospital where Indian girls received official training.
