The Drive-Thru Disapeared | 1950s Sci-Fi Doo-Wop Abduction Madness

Saturday night. Two tickets. One very bad idea. The Drive-In Disappeared is a 1950s sci-fi doo-wop story about a quiet night at the movies turning into a full-scale alien abduction. The screen turns blue, cars begin floating, popcorn lifts into the air and the projector starts broadcasting messages directly to Mad Mick. Before long, the entire drive-in is being dragged through a beam toward somewhere past the moon. This track blends vintage doo-wop harmonies, upright bass, finger snaps, piano triplets and rapid triple-time vocals with chopped lyrics, vocal scratches, backspins, needle drags, false starts and long echo-soaked breakdowns. Every scratch and chopped rhythmic hit is built from words and syllables taken from the vocals, including “drive-in,” “Mick,” “baby,” “kiss,” “gone” and fragments from the hook. Written, voiced, concept-designed and assembled by Mad Mick. Turn it up, watch the sky and tell me what you would do if the car beside you suddenly started floating.
